Stage 1 · Assess
The tree, the targets, the access.
Four tree services, all insured, permitted and carried out to arboricultural standards.
In a Florida yard there is rarely room to fell a tree whole, so it comes down in sections with rigging. That takes longer and costs more than dropping it, and it is the difference between a removal and a new roof. Permits are checked before anything is cut.
The tree, the targets, the access.
Checked with the municipality first.
Sectioned and lowered, not dropped.
Debris hauled, site raked.
Clearance, health or structure.
How much can safely come off.
Proper cuts, no stubs.
Work deferred where one is active.
Topping — cutting a crown back to stubs — is still widely sold and it ruins trees, producing weak regrowth and decay that makes the tree more dangerous in five years than it was before. We prune to proper cuts, and we will refuse a topping request and explain why.
A stump ground flush looks finished and settles into a dip within a year. Grinding below grade and backfilling with the grindings leaves something you can mow or replant. We will also say when a stump is too close to a foundation or utility to grind safely.
Utilities marked before grinding.
Below grade, not flush.
Levelled so it does not sink.
Where it cannot be done safely.
Deadwood and weak limbs removed.
No promises about surviving a storm.
Hangers first, they are the danger.
Access restored, debris hauled.
Before the season, thinning and deadwood removal reduce what a storm has to work with — though no honest arborist will promise a tree survives a hurricane. After a storm, hanging limbs are the real danger and they are the first thing we take down.
A free on-site estimate, and a certificate of insurance before anyone climbs.
